Friday Sequel News
With an unofficial release date of August 13, 2010, a sequel to Platinum Dunes' remake of Friday the 13th is currently awaiting a firm greenlight. That isn't exactly new news as producer Brad Fuller has publically said as much in the wake of the film's modestly successful release, but rumors about the fate of Jason Voorhees in the horror sequel – as well as potential directors – are beginning to circulate.

Exclusive: Zachary Levi talks possible early 'Chuck' return
With all the recent cancellations of shows — Southland, Eastwick, Dollhouse — it’s time for some good news to come from TV-land. One of the favorite shows among our staffers is Chuck, the NBC action comedy starring Zachary Levi as a mild-mannered nerd-turned-spy. It just avoided the Grim Reaper last spring to be picked up for its third season, and is tentatively scheduled to come back in March. Not so fast, though, because there’s a rumor that Chuck may return as early as January. Our Brian Truitt caught up with Levi yesterday for a feature in the magazine next month pegged to his upcoming role in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, and wanted to get the early premiere scoop from Chuck himself. “Yeah, that’s a pretty solid rumor,” Levi says, taking a break from the editing bay after wrapping an episode of Chuck that he directed (which will be the ninth of the next season). Read below for more of what Brian found out from Levi, including some hints about Chuck’s upcoming season. Levi says that there was a feeling among cast and crew that NBC might start airing the new season this month or next, but he thinks that scrapped that plan because there wouldn’t be enough time for promotion. “You don’t want to just launch something half-baked, which I appreciate,” Levi says. “Also, you don’t want to run like four episodes and then be down for the whole holiday season. That’s what’s happened to us the last couple of years. There have been certain things that have preempted our schedule, it gets a little herky-jerky and people can’t fall into a rhythm with your show.” Levi admits that even a January launch could be problematic, since NBC will be airing the Winter Olympics a couple weeks in February. If that happens, Levi says, “they’re going to double up on some episodes – they’ll air two in a row for a premiere or something like that, so we’ll get a good chunk of them out of the way and get people really rolling with the show and then only be down for a couple weeks before coming back for the rest of the season.” And it’s a longer season than they initially thought: NBC originally asked for a 13-episode third season, and then ordered six more. That turned out to be a positive for Chuck but a negative for director Kenneth Branagh’s movie Thor, which starts filming in January. Levi was cast as Fandral, one of Thor’s Warriors Three in the comic book adaptation, and the actor had even been working out especially for the role, but had to walk away when they got the extra pickup. (Levi admits that producers had asked him to audition for the role of the usually beefy God of Thunder, but told them no. “I’m tall and in pretty good shape, but I’m not big and girthy like that,” he says.) Maybe all that working out will help when he shares screen time with former wrestler “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, one of many guest stars on Chuck’s third season. Levi says that Brandon Routh ( Superman Returns) appears in approximately eight episodes, and Kristen Kreuk ( Smallville) will be in three. Diedrich Bader (of The Drew Carey Show) and former Reno: 911 star Cedric Yarbrough will guest on the episode that Levi directs. The last time we saw Chuck in the second season finale, he had had the new Intersect 2.0 downloaded into his brain, taken down a bunch of bad guys and uttered the phrase “I know kung fu.” Levi reveals that the character will see a lot of growth and change this season, continuing his tenuous (and maybe not so tenuous, he teases) romantic relationship with super-spy Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and getting used to the new thing in his noggin. “This new Intersect 2.0 grants Chuck the ability to have physical powers of sorts, whether it be kung fu or playing a musical instrument or maneuvering a vehicle of some kind,” Levi says. “But it’s glitchy. It’s not a perfect system because it was meant for a cool, collected, calm, in-control spy who’s on top of his emotions, and unfortunately Chuck is not that guy. He’s still an emotional guy. That starts messing with the new Intersect’s ability to perform. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But he still is the unwilling, unwitting hero, and he still needs the assistance of his team – he can’t just go out there and take on a bunch of baddies all by himself.” SOURCE |

Kim Kardashian Ready to Shack Up With Reggie Bush
 Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush are on-again. And how. While the Bootylicious One's Beverly Hills condo has been on the market for the past few months, it's the recent for sale sign installed in the front yard of her reunited footballer beau's Los Angeles mansion that's gotten tongues wagging. And for good reason. "They are looking for a bigger place to live together," a source close to Bush tells E! News. (Are those wedding bells we hear? Uh, again?)But first they have to unload their old haunts. Both listed their properties through the same real estate agent, and while Kardashian's condo is on the market for $1.1 million, the NFLer's lair has an asking price of a cool $5.1 million. Bush's bachelor pad boasts four bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, a red suede elevator with the initials "RB" stitched in gold (in case Rachel Bilson or Russell Brand are looking to move), a black and red velvet theater room, a glass floor mezzanine and 360-degree views of the entire city. Andrew Bird: Soundtrack Composer, Sculptor, Muppet
 Andrew Bird is keeping busy, or so reports the BBC 6. All whilst on a lengthy tour, Bird is finding time to score a film, create an art installation, and cover Kermit the Frog’s “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” The film in question is titled Norman. It’s a high school drama starring Adam Goldberg and is the first legit full-length feature Bird has scored. The art project is harder to explain. According to Bird, “I’ve been collaborating with this sculptor in Chicago who makes these horns that I play through – they are like speakers – to create a whole installation, a room full of these horns that are shaped like poppies, making loops that come out of different horns. It’s like an arboretum of sonic sculptures. It’ll be a traveling museum show.” Whoa. The Kermit cover is part of a Sesame Street 40th Anniversary disc, featuring artists like My Morning Jacket and (no surprise) Weezer playing your favorite Muppet tunes. It’s due out early next year. Top 10 Twilight Zone Episodes
This year (2009) celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of a classic television series: The Twilight Zone. Beginning in 1959 and running for five seasons, The Twilight Zone has definitely made its mark on our culture. Out of 156 fantastic episodes, I picked the top ten that, in my opinion, are must-see episodes.

Time For A Serious Post
I know this is kind of contrary to a lot of the posts going around, but if it's good enough for People magazine, it's good enough for ONTD damnit. Warning, the footage behind the cut is extremely graphic.
Charla Nash, the Stamford, Conn., woman mauled by a 200-pound chimpanzee on Feb. 16, spoke out for the first time to show the world how she's doing after that brutal attack. Saying she's not in any pain, Nash told Oprah Winfrey for a show that aired Wednesday, "I don't remember [The attack]. I don't want to … I want to get healthy. I don't want to wake up with nightmares." In the course of the TV interview, which was filmed at Ohio's Cleveland Clinic where Nash is being treated, Nash willingly allowed Winfrey to lift the veiled hat that normally covers her face and reveal her badly disfigured face to the public for the first time. Nash said she wears the veil to avoid scaring people. The family of Nash is suing the chimp's owner, Nash's longtime friend and employer, Sandra Herold, for $50 million. They are also suing the state of Connecticut for $150 million for having not seen the warning signs, Thursday'sToday show reported.
The attack took place outside Herold's home, when Herold called Nash to help her shepherd the 14-year-old chimpanzee, Travis, back into her house. Police shot and killed Travis after he attacked Nash.
Nash's legal filing describes her injuries as "catastrophic." She lost both hands and incurred "traumatic facial injury" that includes the loss of her nose, upper and lower lips, eyelids and the bony structures in her mid-face.
Doctors have been able to reattach one of her thumbs, which Winfrey gently shook at the end of the interview. Asked what she would tell those who saw her and didn't know how to react, Nash said, "I'm the same person I've always been. I just look different. You know, and there's things that happen in life that, you know, you can't change it. You know, it's a tragedy." If you remember also, Kim Kardashian got in trouble for posting photos of herself with another Chimpanzee (I actually think it was the mother of Travis or so someone has told me) because the story reminded her of it, and she talked about how nice the chimps were. Stay klassy Kim.

 Burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese and Black Eyed Peas‘ leading lady Fergie dance up a storm at the VIP Room in Paris on Tuesday (November 10). Joined by BEPs Will.i.am and apl.de.ap and Dita’s boyfriend, French artistocrat Louis Maris de Castelbajac, Dita, 37, and the group enjoyed wine and champagne and got close on the dance floor. Female Heroine Web series Riese goes viral
It’s not easy getting noticed in the Internet age of shortened attention spans. A new Web series, however, has managed to generate a fair amount of buzz. Riese has capitalized on geek culture’s hard-on for the steam-punk genre. It has also attracted the on-line masses with forums, an alternate reality game, and a forthcoming iPhone application. The sci-fi show, which premiered on November 2, follows heroine Riese as she travels through the kingdom of Eleysia, pursued by a religious cult. The show stars Christine Chatelain in the titular role, as well as Stargate alumni Sharon Taylor, Ben Cotton, and Patrick Gilmore. We’ve had a lot of really positive feedback from both fans and others in the industry actually. It’s funny, I got a call from YouTube, I think about five hours after we launched, saying that they wanted to make us one of their official shows so that was pretty exciting,” show creator and executive producer Ryan Copple told the Straight by phone. The show initially drew attention for its steam-punk-inspired look. While the show’s costumes and props, like aviator goggles and clockwork pieces, are a nod to the genre, Copple says that the show isn't necessarily defined by it. “Steam-punk is generally considered to be the future envisioned by Victorians,” Copple explains. “In the world we’re creating, it’s much different. There’s still the sense of anachronism, but it’s almost more of a fusion of medieval and World War One era.” The series’ extensive backstory and original mythology is only hinted at in the nine-minute pilot episode, but it can be further explored through the show’s various multiplatform tie-ins. Shantaram Shelved; Amber Heard & Aaron Echkart talk about The Rum Diary
Shantaram Shelved The film adaptation of the bestselling book, 'Shantaram', which was due to feature the dual talents of Hollywood's Johnny Depp and the Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan, has been shelved, Bachchan told me in a flying visit to London this week. The New York-based film director, Mira Nair, who has won plaudits at the Cannes Film Festival for such acclaimed films as 'Salaam Bombay!' and 'Monsoon Wedding', had enlisted both actors for the film adaptation, announced two years ago. But Bachchan said she had phoned him to tell him the whole project had been "shelved". He said: "She didn't say why but she just told me that it was shelved." 'Shantaram' was to be based on the book by Gregory David Roberts, which tells the story of an escaped Australian convict who travels through continents and ends up in Mumbai's underworld. Nair had cast Depp in the lead role in the film with Bachchan agreeing to play the Mumbai-based gangster called Kader Bhai who becomes Depp's mentor and father figure. ( Read more... ) |
